INDEPENDENT SUPERHERO CINEMA PICKS
Hey Gang, Just wanted to bring your attention to the Our Heroes section today. Independent filmmakers have been busy churning out some quality Superhero/Comic Book related
cinema of late, So I've compiled a list of my personal faves to share with you guys, Ain't I a sweetheart? :) Be the first
on your block to check out, Team Epic, CUBEGIRL, The League, Issues,
Heroes Of The North, and The Chick!
Download this episode (40 min) Is anyone familiar with the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon? The game is based under the assumption that any
actor can be linked through his or her film roles to actor Kevin Bacon within six steps. I was having a bizarre thought while
editing this week’s Podcast and took it a step farther. Do the fan film makers Fanboy Will and I talk with fit into
the game? In some cases – very, very easily. Sometimes I think people get so enamored with “celebrity” we
don’t realize how attainable or how we regular folk connect to these so called “stars”. So I took this week’s
guest Chris Bouchard and put him to my hypothesis. Actually, Chris was pretty easy. But let’s play and maybe next time
it will be a little more challenging.
OH WAIT! You may actually be asking yourself who Chris Bouchard is. I’m
sure if you listen to this Podcast or know anything about fan films ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ has crossed your path. In my opinion the film in question along with another Lord of the Rings fan film
called ‘Born of Hope’ both have legitimized the genre even further. And to borrow from an old, tired both films
have raised the bar to what fan films can and will become.
So onto the game. Onto Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
1)
Chris Bouchard directed Max Bracey is The Hunt for Gollum. 2) Max Bracey portrayed Baby Superman in Superman IV: The Quest
for Peace. 3) Superman IV: The Quest for Peace starred Gene Hackman. 4) Gene Hackman was in Get Shorty with John Travolta. 5)
John Travolta was in Broken Arrow with Christian Slater. 6) And Christian Slater was in Murder in the First with Mr. Kevin
Bacon.
So I give you Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. A game even the fan film lovers can play.
“COMIC BOOK LITERACY” PREMIERES AT CHICAGO’S C2E2 Documentary
feature film showcases the utilization of comic books to promote literacy and education
CHICAGO, IL - The independent
documentary feature film “Comic Book Literacy” will make its world premiere at C2E2 - The Chicago Comic &
Entertainment Expo. The film will screen on Sunday April 18th at 1:45. After the screening there will be a Q&A
with the film’s director Todd Kent.
“Comic Book Literacy” emphasizes the positive
attributes of a misunderstood medium. The film features appearances by comic book writers and artists such as Paul Dini,
Scott McCloud, Terry Moore, Joe Quesada, Jim Salicrup, Gail Simone and Art Spigeleman as well as historians and scholars who
discuss the role comics play in education in both an historical and contemporary context.
“Many,
many people we spoke with attributed their love of reading to comic books,” Kent said, “And we are thrilled to
be able to share that excitement and spread the good word about comics.”
Kent added, “C2E2
is a great fit for the film and we’re honored to be a part of it.” Topics in the film include visual literacy,
vocabulary and even science and history, the learning of which can be enhanced with the help of comics.
There are plans to screen the film at film festivals and comic book conventions throughout the year with the goal of obtaining
a wide release distribution.
“We also hope to spread the word about what a great educational
resource comics are,” said Kent, “All teachers should have some comics in their utility belt.”
For more information about the film, upcoming screenings, and updates go to: www.ComicBookLiteracy.com
YO JOE! I mean YO SCOTT! I’m talking Scott Grass from Forsaken
Filmz who has brought us the G.I. Joe fan film "End Of Peace". G.I.
Joe is not a property you normally see in the world of fan films due
the extensive cast of characters, intricate costuming, and potential for
costly special effects. But if there’s one thing fan film makers can
do is stretch the imagination to make the inconceivable conceivable.
Scott and his crew have juggled what could potentially be a disastrous
production into a cool film that holds the heart and integrity to what
the die hard G.I. Joe fans would expect from such a project.
As all members of the fan film making community can imagine it’s not
always easy making a final production, to actually get it out there for
all to see. Scott talks candidly about the trials and disappointments
in took to get "End of Peace" to eventually see the light of day. And
Forsaken Filmz is not a one trick pony. Oh no! As the normal genesis
of the people that make these fan films they progress into their own
original projects in this case Forsaken’s "Thou Shall Kill".
So DUSTY yourself off. Get ready to get all GUNG HO! Grab yourself
some BARBEQUE and some BAZOOKA bubble gum. Turn off the LAW and ORDER.
Move into a room with LOW LIGHT. Get all FOOTLOOSE. Prepare to ROCK
'N ROLL ! And join us for some CHUCKLES only on the Fan Film Podcast.

So Fanboy Will tells me of this fan film called X-23Terrell
Culbert. What the hell is an X-23? More importantly what the hell is a
Terrell Culbert? Using my keen research skills I turn to the inter
oracle known as THE GOOGLE.
A top-secret program is tasked to replicate the original Weapon X
experiment that produced the feral mutant Wolverine. The Y chromosome
from the only genetic sample from Weapon X is unable to be salvaged. So a
female clone is proposed in the form of X-23. X-23 was created for the
X-Men: Evolution animated television series and later brought into the
comics pretty much how Harley Quinn from the Batman mythos did a decade
or more ago.
OK! That answers that. Now who is this Culbert guy? The oracle tells
us Terrell is a prolific talent who writes, draws, and makes fan films.
I mean, if he didn’t make fan films I wouldn’t even be writing this,
but I digress. Terrell runs his own imprint and productions under the
label Breathe
Again Entertainment. Along with his "X" related fan film his
original character sEVE is being produced in comic book form and soon to
the visual realm of film.
Also in this Fan Film Podcast, Fanboy Will sums up our feelings and
thoughts beautifully on the passing of Andrew Koenig who took his own
life this past week. Most of you may know Andrew from his portrayal of
the Joker in Sandy Collora’s Batman: Dead End. Although, certainly not
an embodiment of his entire life of work, this is a performance that
will have a special place here in the confines of the Fan Film Podcast.
R.I.P. Andrew.
R.I.P ANDREW
KOENIG
Our
fears in the Fan Film community, and the world of entertainment, have
tragically become the horrible truth. Andrew
Koenig, best known for his role in the sitcom Growing Pains, and as the son
of Star Trek legend Walter Koenig, has taken
his life at
the age of 41. Koenig, who was staying with friends in Vancouver, went
missing on Valentines day and was never seen again. Koenigs body was
discovered in Vancouver's, Stanley Park on Thursday. No cause of death
has been determined. Koenig was best known in the Fan Film community for
his outstanding portrayl of The Joker in
Sandy Collora's legendary fan
film, Batman-Dead End. Andrew
will be sorely missed, My heart goes out to Mr. Koenig, friends, and
family. R.I.P

Download this episode (49 min) Fanboy Will attended the 2009 Big Apple Comic Convention most specifically a panel that was supposed to include The Dukes of Hazzard stars
Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, and John Schneider. It turned out the only one able to attend due to various reasons was John Schneider. He did not disappoint as he talked very candidly about both Hazzard and his other SUPER
acting gig on Smallville.
IN TWO WEEKS OR WHAT IS TO COME! I honestly don’t
know. We’ve been in contact with Amber Moelter from Catwoman: Copycat and Catwoman: Resolution. It’s just a matter of nailing
down a time out of her busy schedule. We’ve also been attempting to get Robert Chapin on the podcast to talk about his
original property The Hunted. Again, he’s crazy busy, but they’ll both be on at some point.
I’d also like to mention Fanboy Will and I have both been hard at work on our respective
sites. While Will’s Fanboy Theatre is being revamped you can visit his brand, spanking new BLOG. I’ve finally started my own site after writing for others all these years. With
this podcast post I officially announce the opening of the new Fan Film Follies. Queue cheers, fireworks, and balloons. I must mention the title logo was created by fan
film posterboy Jeff Hayes. Thanks, Jeff!
I’m not sure if
we’ll have further shows for 2009. I don’t have to tell you how busy this time of year is. BUT! We WILL be back
in 2010. Hope to see you then.
PS-Be sure to check out my review of Ivan King's
Fan Film, Spider-Man-The Darkness Inside. Look for it in our Reviews section and enjoy! Much more on the way, including my
reviews of Chris Notarile's latest Fan Film's featuring our old buddy Frank Castle, Punisher '79, and Punisher '80!
JOHN SCHNEIDER, HELEN SLATER, AND THE LATEST HARRY POTTER FAN FILM!
Download this episode (42 min) This week we’ve got two – two shows in one. The
first half of this week’s show we speak to Kellen Gibbs and George Norman Lippert about the Harry Potter themed fan film production “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing”. There’s
an interesting spin on how this film came about. George wrote a full length fan fiction novel continuing the series originally
created by J. K. Rowling. Kellen, in turn, found the story online visualizing George’s writing into a short film. On
Saturday, November 21st that film will be put online for the world to see.
The second half of this week’s show
we’ll talk to Fanboy Will about his experiences at this year’s Big Apple Comic Convention that was held October 16th through the 18th. He was able to briefly speak with Supergirl’s
Helen Slater and Smallville’s John Schneider.
IN TWO WEEKS: We’ll have audio from John Schneider’s panel
from the Big Apple Comic Convention. It should be a treat for Dukes of Hazard and Smallville fans alike.

Currently
Sean is completing work on “The Huntleigh Files”, a thrilling webseries about two teenage sisters
protecting the world from domestic terrorists. He’s writing his first feature "In the Blink of an Eye" which is in pre-production.
He never gives up. He'll stay ‘til the fight's won. Sean Olson will dare - a real American hero.

THE FAN FILM PODCAST INTERVIEWS ROGER KING
One of the hardest and most ambitious heroes to bring to live action I can think of in terms of Fan Films
is the character of Spider-Man. Throw on top of that almost the entire group of his arch enemies and your
over ambitions will surely be your downfall. That is unless you are Roger King. Roger has turned what would
seem to be an impossible project into reality. Not only into reality, but into a quality fan film that spans over six hours
of content. YES! Because Roger hasn’t just made one fan film, he's made and is editing six separate films to create
one hell of a "Spidey" epic.
Roger King from Bag and Board Productions joins us this week on the Fan Film Podcast for part one of a two part interview.
IN
TWO WEEKS: Mr. Roger King concludes discussing his film as well as other fanboy (and girl) topics in the second part
of our interview.

includes, a review of Alex Ferrari's twisted film, CYN, and the announcement of two new films set to tickle your brains soon, The Mercury Men(a new online serial by Christopher Preska), and the latest installment of Andy Rodriguez's
web series, Darkfury 3. When you're done soaking it all in,make your way to our podcast website for part two of our interview with the creators of The Raiders Of The Lost Ark fan film adaptation.
FFP INTERVIEW THE MEN BEHIND, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK-THE ADAPTATION
Where is Episode 43? It's coming! I lost the FLASH DRIVE that holds the episode so the show needs to be
re-edited. We apologize to Mr. Marc Kimball who will be our guest. The episode will be live in the next couple
days!
In the meantime...
When Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 1981 it left a lasting impression
on a whole generation of movie goers like nothing that came before. Such is true for three young, strapping youths; Chris
Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb. Their passion for the film ignited a seven year “arc” of filming
their own shot-by-shot adaptation in the backyards of their Mississippi homes.
This week the Fan Film Podcast interviews
Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala about their experiences in the making of this classic fan film. The things they did to make
this film were one part clever, one part innovative, and two parts crazy.
NEXT WEEK: Chris Strompolos
and Eric Zala return as they talk about their experiences meeting Mr. Steven Spielberg and their original
project they hope to bring to the big screen.

FAN FILM PODCAST EPISODE 39 - FANBOY WILL MEETS PHIL MORRIS!
I’m very jealous of Fanboy Will on this week’s Fan Film Podcast. Will interviews Mr. Phil Morris at this years New York City Comic Convention held at the Javits Center on February 6th through the 8th. This gentleman has been a fanboy favorite with his
numerous Star Trek appearances, his voice work, and of course Jackie Chiles on Seinfeld. Then there’s this juggernaut
show called Smallville where Phil plays the iconic character The Martian Manhunter. We learn about Phil's new project called
"Emissary".
Fanboy Will was also able to talk with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Peter Laird.
NEXT WEEK: We hope to be speaking with James Watson from Atlantis Studios about his original comic book character Paula Peril who he’s bringing into the realm of live action.
FAN FILM PODCAST EPISODE 38 - 2009' NEW YORK COMICON RE-CAP
AND WE ARE BACK! Welcome to the first show of 2009. Fanboy Will is going to get things going the next two
podcasts with his experiences and interviews from the New York City Comic Convention held at the Javits Center on February 6th through the 8th. I’m just along for the ride chiming in with
my witless and humorless comments.
Interviews to expect are with Ray Felix from
Cup O Java Studio. Miss Horror Fest 2009, Victoria Tim, (VicTim - get it!) is representing. Chris Notarile from Blinky Productions makes a quick appearance. Terence Krey and Christian Nilsson were promoting
their Thor based fan film web series Rainbow Bridge. Our old friend Robert Feldman from Dr. Shroud fame is on hand. And last, but hardly least, Mr. Trevor Roth, COO of Roddenberry Productions fame, gives us a great incite into some exciting projects on tap and an interesting revelation about the Godfather
of Trek himself.
NEXT WEEK: We return to the New York Comic Con with an interview with Smallville’s Phil
Morris. You read correctly. The Martian Manhunter talks it up with Fanboy Will.

REST IN PEACE MY FRIENDS
Kiwi & His big brother, Fanboy Will
Hi Everyone, My appologies to all of you checking back with us daily for a new update posting. Two
days ago I lost one of my best friends for the past eight years, My pet parakeet/ little brother, Kiwi. Kiwi finally lost
his bout with cancer, and liver disease, after putting up one Hell of a fight. Kiwi had been very sick for the last two
months, this just after his best friend (My other pet parakeet/little brother of eight years) ,Scobby, died from heart failure.
Kiwi became very distant after Scoob's passing, and began to show the symptoms of his illnes. After a trip to the vet Kiwi
was diagnosed with cancer, in the form of a rapidly growing tumor on his belly. I took him home and cried my eyes out. I knew
his time in this life was running out, but to hear the exact words from the Doctor really hit me hard. For the last week of
Kiwi's life I attended to his every need, since the cancer ravaging his body made him too weak to be able to feed himself,
get around, or even stand. I take comfort in knowing I did all i could for him, and knowing how much he loved us, and the
life we gave him. I know this news has nothing to do with fan films, comics, or other Fanboy related fodder, but it has everything
to do with, 'ME'... My heart is broken, and my motivation is low, but I promise you I will return shortly. The Fan Film Podcast
will also be on a short hiatus while Mr. Moshier, and Myself, put together a 2009' New York Comicon re-cap show. Many
special guests will make appearances, so stay tuned...This update is dedicated to the memories of Scobby and Kiwi, while you
soar through Heaven's endless skies together, know we will never forget you, and the joy you brought into our lives. R.I.P

awesome piece of art my lovely, and talented girlfriend Patty made for me over the weekend. I am an old school video
game fan, and my favorite platform is the original Nintendo NES. That being the case Patty put together this
awesome NES Controller, and Mario Bros. Mushroomsmade out of these tiny plastic circle thingees, I forget what you call em'..Awesome much? I think so. For more from my
uber-talented GF, and her equally talented friends, visit her art/craft blog, Little Red Suitcase.

to say that my job will slow down updates, but I HAVE NOTgiven up on the site. Even if i had ten jobs, and four personalities,

would be cool to showcase some Watchmen Fan Films made by Us, The Fans. Visit ourReviewssection today for my two cents on The following Watchmen related
